The background of the installation is from a Montréal Métro station. The three photos are in the classical gold-leaf frames were hung on wires and the images in the frames are juxtapositions of women and children from Zimbabwe and female statue figure heads called 'caryatids'. The caryatid photos were taken during a project done to document the restoration of John Soane's (the renowned, long-deceased British architect) Pitzhanger Manor House. The background was projected around the three frames in a dark studio room and the viewer was allowed to approach to see the images up-close, but so as not to obscure the projection.
